Hi! I'm Zaki, a Pakistani Muslim documentary assistant editor based in Los Angeles, CA

I grew up in a 1st generation immigrant household during the turn of the century. Inside my household I was Pakistani, outside of it I was American. All the while the world around me was changing at a rapid pace. I watched anything from old Bollywood classics to Pixar masterpieces and everything in between. Regardless of format and genre, whether it was Nemo on a portable DVD player or Ek Tha Tiger on a smart TV, movies have always "worked" on me.

I fell in love with storytelling because it became the way I made sense of the 2 worlds I grew up in. And now, I've been fortunate enough to have told stories in several languages, in a variety of cultures, across mediums and genres reaching global audiences.

Today, I work as an editor and assistant editor across traditional documentary, premium digital storytelling, and social content. And I am a proud alumni of the Industry Standard Experience program and member of Netflix's CTED family.

I love working on stories in the worlds of sports, politics, and social issues — creating compelling narratives and highlighting urgent issues to inspire audiences.
